What is wrong with my tooth?
Tick everything that matches how you feel. It takes 30 seconds.
Sensitivity or an early cavity
Often a small cavity, worn enamel or receding gums. A check-up and a simple filling or desensitising treatment usually fixes it.
Root canal treatment may be needed
Deep decay has probably reached the nerve. Please see a dentist within 1–2 days; an X-ray will show if a root canal treatment is needed.
Dental infection — needs care today
Swelling with fever can mean a spreading infection. Call us now or go to an emergency service. Do not put heat on the swelling.
Gum disease (gingivitis) — scaling helps
Usually caused by tartar and plaque. Professional scaling and polishing plus good brushing normally stops the bleeding.
Gum disease, tartar or a hidden cavity
A check-up finds the cause; scaling and treating any cavity usually solves it.
Filling, crown or bonding
Keep any broken piece, avoid chewing on that side and see us soon. Small chips are bonded; bigger breaks may need a crown.
Dental implant, bridge or denture
A gap can let other teeth move. Implants, bridges and dentures replace missing teeth — we will explain which suits you.
Orthodontic treatment (braces / aligners)
Braces or clear aligners straighten teeth at any age. Start with a consultation and photos.
Scaling & polishing or teeth whitening
Surface stains come off with scaling and polishing; whitening lightens the natural colour.
Wisdom tooth check — may need removal
A partly erupted wisdom tooth often gets infected. An X-ray shows if it should be removed.
