About the university
Wuhan University (武汉大学, WHU) is one of China's most famous comprehensive universities. Its roots go back to the Ziqiang Institute of 1893. The campus on Luojia Hill beside East Lake in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, is known as one of the most beautiful in China — especially in spring, when the cherry trees bloom. WHU is part of the 985, 211 and Double First-Class programmes.
