CSC Scholarship Documents Checklist for Bangladeshi Students
Applying for the Chinese Government (CSC) Scholarship? Here is every document you usually need, how to prepare it in Bangladesh, and the mistakes that get applications rejected.
The Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) is the most popular fully funded scholarship for Bangladeshi students who want to study in China. It usually covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, a monthly stipend and medical insurance. Because thousands of students apply, a complete and well-prepared file makes a big difference. This checklist explains the documents that CSC applications normally ask for.
Always check the official notice of the year you apply and the university's own list — requirements can change from year to year and between universities.
1. Online application form
You fill in the CSC online application form on the Study in China portal (campuschina.org) and print the form when it is complete. Make sure your name exactly matches your passport and that you choose the correct program category and agency number (for Type B, this is the university's number).
2. Passport
A valid passport with at least 18 months of validity is a safe target. Upload a clear scan of the photo page.
3. Highest degree certificate (notarised)
Your SSC/HSC certificates for Bachelor's, your Bachelor's certificate for Master's, or your Master's certificate for PhD. Documents not in Chinese or English need an official translation, and they should be notarised. Final-year students can usually submit a provisional certificate or a letter from their institution.
4. Academic transcripts (notarised)
Mark sheets or transcripts for your highest degree, translated and notarised in the same way.
5. Study plan or research proposal
At least 800 words for Bachelor's and Master's applicants and usually 1,500 words or more for PhD. Explain what you want to study, why China and that university, your background and your plans after graduation. This is one of the most important parts of your file — write it yourself and make it specific.
6. Two recommendation letters
Postgraduate applicants need two letters from professors or associate professors, written in English or Chinese, signed, with the referee's contact details.
7. Foreigner Physical Examination Form
The official Chinese health form, completed at a hospital, with your photo, signature and the hospital stamp, plus blood test and other required reports. Results are usually valid for six months, so time it carefully.
8. Police clearance certificate
A non-criminal record certificate issued by the police, usually within the last six months.
9. Language certificate
An IELTS or similar English certificate for English-taught programs, or an HSK certificate for Chinese-taught programs, if you have one. Some universities accept a medium-of-instruction letter instead of IELTS — ask before you apply.
10. Pre-admission or acceptance letter (if available)
For Type B, many universities ask you to apply to them first. A pre-admission letter or a supervisor's acceptance letter (for Master's and PhD) can greatly improve your chances.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Names or dates of birth that do not match across documents
- A copied, general study plan
- Medical forms without the hospital stamp or that expire before the deadline
- Applying at the last minute when portals are slow
